Researchers said the approach has the potential to “transform care” for thousands of women annually, and could spare patients from “invasive, uncomfortable” tests. A study of 1,864 women showed the combined test of urine and vaginal cell samples correctly identified 80 per cent of cancers and had a 98.8 per cent negative predictive value for womb cancer .
The test detected 95.8 per cent of high-grade, aggressive tumours and picked up 100 per cent of cancers in black women.
